This project captures excess solar into grid scale battery storage in Mayfield West, near Newcastle, delivering a more resilient energy supply to the community.

Project overview

We are delivering a 400MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at 1 McIntosh Drive, Mayfield West, within the Steel River Industrial Estate. The Steel River East BESS will consist of 112 battery units, a control and switch room, and an on-site workshop, ensuring robust operation and maintenance capabilities. Construction will commence in 2026.
