PLUS Grid Storage is focused on delivering stable and reliable electricity for communities, by storing energy close to where it’s needed, making better use of existing infrastructure and reducing impacts on communities and the environment.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are critical infrastructure supporting Australia’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy network. Batteries help balance electricity supply by storing energy when it is abundant and releasing it when demand is high. This helps maintain system stability and ensures electricity remains readily available.
Meeting future demand will require significantly more storage capacity this decade, making grid‑scale batteries an essential part of a reliable electricity supply.
Why it’s important
Locating storage on the distribution network provides fast, flexible support where it is needed most. By utilising existing electrical infrastructure and building close to established substations, projects can connect efficiently and minimise impacts on communities and the environment.
This also improves reliability, strengthens network performance during periods of high demand, and reduces overall pressure on the broader electricity system. By storing and dispatching energy locally, our BESS reduce reliance on coal and gas and enable renewable sources to be used more effectively.
